FAQ

How far in advance do I need to book with you?

I take bookings up to two years in advance of your wedding day. Popular dates do get booked up fast, so please enquire to avoid disappointment.

How long have you been in business?

I began shooting weddings in 2014. I made my start by filming my cousin's wedding, and then a friend of a friend and so on and so forth!

Do you have a portfolio I can review? Is all of the footage yours, and is the work recent?

Yes, my most recent work can be viewed on the FILM GALLERY page. All of the Films featured on that page were filmed and edited by Lauren Simpkin Films.

What type of equipment do you use?

I shoot very high-quality 4K footage on Sony A7Siii cameras. I shoot most of the day handheld, except for during the ceremony and speeches when I use tripods. My cameras are very small so I can remain non-obtrusive.

Do you shoot in colour and black & white? Infrared?

I shoot in extremely high-quality, S-Log picture profiles. S-Log breathes life into the footage by preserving the wide colour gamut and dynamic range recorded by the sensor. In post-production, I can create the image we want as part of the grading process. This allows me to have greater artistic control over the finished product and results in an extremely high, beautifully cinematic picture quality.

Can I give you a list of specific shots we would like?

Yes of course! I'd love to hear your ideas and incorporate them, so your film is as personal and unique as you are. I schedule zoom call consultations with all of my clients no later than 4 weeks prior to the big day. This is when we can go over all of the shots you would like in your film together.

Have you ever worked with my florist? DJ? Coordinator, etc.?

There are a number of wedding vendors I work closely with. Please let me know whom you have hired for your special day. Alternatively, if you would like any suggestions of reliable, professional vendors/services, please just ask. I can point you in the right direction!

May I have a list of references?

Of course. If you require a list of references, please just ask. You can also take a look at the KIND WORDS page to see reviews from our previous clients.

Are you the videographer who will shoot my wedding? If so, will you have any assistants with you on that day?

I shoot the majority of weddings solo, operating two cameras during the Ceremony and Speeches. However, if you require a third camera to capture your day please do let me know. I have a catalogue of UK assistant Wedding Videographers that are willing to assist me. Please note, an additional charge would be added to cover our assistant's day rate.

Do you have a backup plan if you are unable to shoot my wedding for some reason?

In the extremely unfortunate instance that I am not able to film your wedding day, I have a catalogue of UK Wedding Videographers who shoot in a very similar style to me, whom I can call on film on my behalf.

If my wedding site is out of your area, do you charge a travel fee and what does that cover?

I am always willing to travel around the UK. If your venue is over an hour and a half's drive from me, I usually suggest overnight accommodation the night before the wedding. This is in case of any bad traffic congestion or road closures on the morning of the wedding. I wouldn't want anything to delay me getting to you on your big day. It would also mean I have much more time to film on the morning of the wedding which is often one of the busiest parts of the day!

Are you filming other events on the same day as mine?

No, I am always 100% focused on your wedding.

How will you (and your assistants) be dressed?

I dress in smart/casual clothing. Usually black/grey trousers, a blouse and a blazer jacket.

Is it okay if other people take Film while you're Filming?

Yes, I have no problem with your guests capturing parts of your day on their mobile phones or cameras, however, I do ask that they maintain a conscious effort not to interfere with any of the professional recordings.

What time will you arrive at the site and for how long will you shoot?

This is determined by the package you have chosen. I arrive on location very early, so I can capture the establishing shots, and location details and so that I can focus completely on capturing your guests when they start arriving. For more information on how many hours I will be shooting at your wedding please visit the PACKAGES page.

If my event lasts longer than expected, will you stay? Is there an additional charge?

In my experience, it is common that the day's events do not always stick to a strict schedule and that's okay! The last thing I would want is for any of my couples to be stressed on their big day. I will of course stay longer than originally planned to capture all of what is agreed in our contract.

How long after the wedding will I get receive my film?

I aim to have your Films completed and delivered within 8-12 weeks of the wedding.

Will you give me the original video files?

No, I do not give clients the raw video files. However, if you'd like a copy of your Ceremony and Speeches in full please let me know. You can add these films as additional extras!

When will I receive a written contract?

A contract will be sent to you upon booking. Please read through the contract thoroughly. By submitting your deposit, you are agreeing to the T&C's written in the contract.

How much of a deposit do you require and when is it due?

The amount required to secure the date differentiates depending on the package chosen. Deposits start at £150 and are required upon making a booking. Please note, your date will not be saved until the deposit is paid. Please book early to avoid disappointment.

What is your refund/cancellation policy?

Please note all deposits are non-refundable. If you do need to cancel your booking at any time please contact me ASAP via phone.

Do you have liability insurance?

Yes. If you would like to see a copy of my Public Liability Insurance please just ask.

Can I choose the music in my film?

All of the music I use needs to be properly licensed, therefore I use Artlist to source the music I will use in your film. I gravitate towards instrumentals as this will allow your vows and speeches to tell the story of your day, making your film much more unique and personal.

Will all of our guests appear in our film?

Not necessarily. I gravitate towards action, after all, film is about capturing movement. If certain guests exclude themselves from the party it is unlikely they will appear in your film. I make capturing laughter, hugs, kisses, dancing, games, magic, joy and excitement my utmost priority. Wherever the most energy is in the room, that is where you'll find me!
